Veneers

Veneers are one of the most popular cosmetic dental treatments, having been showcased and endorsed by many television makeover and lifestyle shows.

They are extremely thin sheets of ceramic or composite material, usually porcelain, and are applied over the top of the teeth. They are cemented to the surface of teeth – similar to how false nails are placed on fingernails. This is an effective and fast-acting treatment, able to transform worn, damaged, stained and uneven teeth into a flawless smile.

Veneers are designed to look like natural teeth. There is a range of shades available, with porcelain veneers having a colour that mimics natural teeth.

What can veneers treat?

This is a versatile form of cosmetic dental treatment, which can be used to correct and address a range of common dental problems, including:

  • Stained and discoloured teeth
  • Crowded teeth
  • Spaces between the teeth
  • Crooked teeth
  • Worn and chipped teeth

What is the treatment process?

Before the veneers are fitted the teeth need to be prepared. This is to provide space for the veneers and involves removing tiny pieces of tooth tissue. There is no soreness or discomfort. After the preparation stage, a mould of the teeth will be created and used as a template for the permanent veneers. During the first visit we will also discuss colours and shades.

At the second appointment the veneers will be cemented into position using strong bonding material, but this is only done once we know you are happy with the look of your smile.

Why should I consider veneers?

If you are constantly drawn to flaws in your smile or have been inspired by the Hollywood smile, veneers are likely to be the perfect smile solution for you. Veneers are able to treat a number of aesthetic problems, resulting in a significant boost to confidence and self-esteem.
